Hey! Thank you so much for stopping by! I'm so stinking excited that you're here!
My name is Allison, the maker, creator, photographer, coffee loving, watermelon eating person behind MGK!
Melon Girl Knits started after an insane amount of back and forth, I kept thinking can I really do this, will I want to do this after I graduate (I was 16 at the time), will I be able to keep going when the going gets tough? I'm what you call a planner & I like to ask an insane amount of questions (I can drive you insane in 5 minutes or less). But thanks to the very wise words of my amazing mother, she said "Just start! If it doesn't work out oh well, but just start.". She might have been really annoyed at my constant "should I start it?" question when she said that, but either way I'm sure that If she hadn't said that to me I don't think I would be where I am today.
Fast forward to when I finally did start MGK.
When I first started Melon Girl Knits it was a way to support my creative hobby, but it quickly grew and became so much more than just that. I started crocheting about 6 years ago, picking up knitting a few years after that, not knowing I would be making and creating for so many amazing humans just a few short years later.
I started doing macrame in the winter of 2017 out of curiosity for the craft, and very quickly fell in love with it.
My goal/ mission behind Melon Girl Knits is to create unique one of a kind pieces that you will absolutely love and want to use over and over again! And in the case of my wall hangings, be inspired each time you look at it, and have it be a timeless piece in your home.
Why the name Melon Girl Knits? Ever since I was little my favorite thing to do in the summer was consume watermelon, and I'm happy to say that obsession has carried into my adult hood. So when it came time to name my business I thought it fitting to name it after one of my favorite things.
If you want to get to know more about me & my brand you should follow me on Instagram! I am on Facebook, but I'm really bad at keeping up with it (face palm). You can find links to both down below.
